OUR STORY BEGINS LIKE THIS...
Two friends, both missionary priests, serve in two parishes located in extraordinary places on the Bolivian highlands.
Father Leonardo Giannelli was the parish priest of Santiago de Huata. An engineer, educator, and refined theologian, he also has a deep passion for engines and boats.
Father Antonio Zavatarelli, known by all as Topio, is the parish priest of Peñas. Passionate about mountaineering and ski touring.
Bound by a strong friendship and a shared vision, the two missionaries look with concern at the growing phenomenon of youth migration: many young people leave the simple life of the rural and campesino communities in search of a future in the big cities of Bolivia, Brazil, Argentina, or even Europe.
To the questions:
“What can we do for the youth, so they can stay and live where they were born? And how can we help our parish communities grow together with them?”
The answer comes from the beauty that surrounds them: the shores of Lake Titicaca, the towering peaks of the Cordillera Real, the richness of Bolivian folklore, and the strength of many friends who share a common dream — to offer young people a real opportunity, a dignified job, a hope.
And so begins a great project of tourism development, which grows day by day, step by step, with its heart rooted in the land and its eyes set on the future.
WHO WE ARE
We are the woman who brings milk to the dairy in the morning, the guide who helps discover the peaks of Bolivia, the youth leader who brings a smile to the children in the after-school program, the student who found his path in the parish, the missionary priest, the boy behind the counter in the café, the girl from the youth group, the university professor, the doctor who opens the medical center...
We are all of this and much more, yet, taken individually, we are nothing. Because it is only in unity, in sharing, and in love for others that we find the true meaning of our mission.
